Sunset - The Pacific Monthly January 1919

Sunset Magazine January 1919

Illustrating Sunset Magazine with armed soldiers on the cover is, of course, very irregular for the publication. However, the end of WWI, which occurred in November 2018, was such a significant event in American lives that it was simply unavoidable. In fact, it made sense to feature this, as I’m sure it was something celebrated for months/ years.

Some history: The end of World War I: The First World War ended on November 11, 1918, when the Allies signed an armistice with Germany. This marked the end of four years of conflict and resulted in significant changes to the political landscape of Europe and the world.
